Taiwanese Investment Boosts US Semiconductor Production

A new trade deal between the United States and Taiwan will see a total investment of USD 500 billion aimed at expanding semiconductor manufacturing in the US. The agreement involves significant financial commitments from both Taiwanese companies and the island's government.

Taiwanese companies are set to invest USD 250 billion into the expansion efforts. The Taiwan government will also contribute an additional USD 250 billion under the terms of the deal.


US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick shared these details during an interview with CNBC. The investment targets the growth of semiconductor production capabilities within the United States.
