CATL Profit Surges, Global Market Share Rises to All-Time High

Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd (CATL) reported a 42% jump in net profit last year to US$10.4 billion, driven by strong battery sales and expansion into new energy storage scenarios. The Chinese battery giant’s global market share for power battery usage reached 39.2% in 2025, solidifying its position as the world’s top manufacturer for the ninth consecutive year.

The company’s sales volume of lithium-ion batteries, a key component for electric vehicles (EVs), reached 661 gigawatt hours (GWh), an increase of 39% from the previous year. China’s EV industry continued to grow in 2025, with production and sales increasing nearly 30% year on year to more than 16 million units.


CATL sold 541 GWh of power batteries, a 41.85% increase, which propelled the company to a new all-time high in global market share. According to data from SNE Research, this market share rose 1.2 percentage points in 2025.


The energy storage business also showed robust growth, with sales reaching 121 GWh, a 29.13% increase year on year. CATL achieved this by providing energy storage system solutions and services, topping global energy storage battery shipments for the fifth consecutive year in 2025, as reported by SNE Research.


Chairman Zeng Yuqun stated that the new energy industry’s development goal is shifting from "speed" to "quality." Yuqun added that CATL is continuously expanding the boundaries of electrification applications, with products extending from passenger vehicles to commercial vehicles, electric vessels, and electric aviation.


The company is also extending its electrification solutions into emerging sectors such as maritime applications and data centres.
