The facility launched with an annual production capacity of 20,000 units, which is expected to increase to 50,000 units.

The first model produced at the plant is the Aion V, a midsize crossover with a driving range of 650 kilometres. It is the first global model under GAC’s electric vehicle marque.

Additional models, including a seven-seater van, are planned for future production.

The Jakarta plant marks a significant step in GAC’s regional expansion strategy.

GAC, a manufacturing partner of Toyota and Honda in China, opened its first completely knocked down factory for gasoline vehicles in Malaysia in last May.

The company also operates production facilities in Nigeria and Thailand and plans to establish another in Brazil in 2026.
