OpenAI does not expect to achieve positive cash flow until 2029, Bloomberg News reported, citing a source familiar with the matter.

Digital "OpenAI" text glows blue on a futuristic, grid-like background with numbers and lights, conveying a tech or AI theme.

The artificial intelligence company, based in San Francisco, faces high costs related to chips, data centres, and talent required for AI development.

By 2029, OpenAI anticipates its revenue will exceed USD 125 billion. The company expects its revenue to more than triple to USD 12.7 billion in 2025, driven by its paid AI software.

In September last year, Reuters reported that OpenAI projected its revenue to surpass USD 11.6 billion in 2025, with 2024 revenue estimated at USD 3.7 billion. The Bloomberg report confirmed the 2024 revenue figure.

Since launching ChatGPT, OpenAI has introduced multiple subscription services for consumers and businesses. In February, the company reported that its paying business users had surpassed 2 million, more than doubling since it's last update in September.
