Nvidia Boosts Hiring Efforts in China for AI-Driven Cars
Nvidia has expanded its team in China by hiring 200 employees this year. The company now has close to 600 staff members in Beijing. Nvidia opened a new office in the Zhongguancun tech hub in China.
The company has been steadily growing its presence in the country, with nearly 600 employees in Beijing and a recent establishment of a new office in the Zhongguancun tech hub, sources familiar with the situation revealed.
At the close of fiscal year 2024, the artificial intelligence chipmaker had a global workforce of about 29,600 individuals across 36 countries, according to a filing released by Nvidia in February. When approached for comment on the Bloomberg report, Nvidia chose not to provide a statement.
Nvidia is currently facing scrutiny in China regarding potential breaches of the country's anti-monopoly regulations, with the investigation widely perceived as a response to recent restrictions imposed by Washington on the Chinese chip industry. In the fiscal year ending in January, China contributed approximately 17% of Nvidia's revenue, a decrease from 26% recorded two years earlier.
