Perplexity, an AI startup, has secured a USD 750 million agreement with Microsoft to utilise its Azure cloud service. This three-year deal allows Nvidia-backed Perplexity to run various AI models through Microsoft's Foundry program.

The models accessible through the program include systems from OpenAI, Anthropic, and xAI. A spokesperson for Perplexity confirmed the partnership with Microsoft for access to "frontier models from X, OpenAI and Anthropic."
The spokesperson also stated that Perplexity has not shifted spending from Amazon Web Services, its primary cloud provider, as a result of the Microsoft deal.
Last year, Amazon sued Perplexity concerning its "agentic" shopping feature. Amazon alleged the feature covertly accessed customer accounts and disguised automated activity as human browsing.
